professional and community based production companies, art exhibitions and multicultural
events. Theatre education and Outreach Programs are also part of the City Playhouse

Gather with friends and family to watch the Humber River Shakespeare Company bring to life the timeless tale of greed, ghosts, salvation, and hope in this original production of the Dickens holiday classic. With Victorian costumes designed by multiple Dora Award nominee Nina Okens and an antique trunk of story-telling treasures, the five actors bring you from Scrooge’s cold bedroom to Fezziwig’s joyful party, the Cratchits’ meagre table, and the brightness of a Christmas morning fresh with snow. Presented by Theatre Beyond Words This brand-new Potato People adventure is grounded in the classic stories of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Narcissus", yet inspired by world music and by the pop style of graphic novels. When curious Nancy Potato disappears through a portal into a magnified version of her garden, her startled neighbour George Beanstalk follows in an effort to find her. Through their adventures with ants, plants, birds, a caterpillar, a flash storm and Mother Nature herself, they discover amazing things not only about the environment, but also about themselves and their relationship.
