Richmond Hill has a thriving arts and crafts community, including
a local theatre group, Curtain Club Theatre,
as well as many other artisans and craft creators. The Curtain Club is a volunteer
community theatre group, made up of over 150 members, who contribute towards the
production of 5 plays during each season. |
The Richmond Hill Centre
for the Performing Arts will be the largest cultural facility of its kind in York
Region. Located at Yonge and Wright Streets in the heart of Richmond Hill's
downtown core, the 43,000 square foot multi-use cultural facility is sure to add to
the vitality of the downtown, support local shops and restaurants and stimulate further
quality developments and improvements along Yonge Street.
The Centre will provide a home for Richmond Hill's diverse arts community, create a
destination in the downtown core, and be a major venue to bring Canadian and international
performing and visual arts to Richmond Hill and York Region. |

Suite Thursdays 3 Guys From the Prairies

The '3 guys' from the prairies are Grant Tilly, David Hein, and Jeffery Straker; they will rock the house singing their songs and telling their bizarre (and hilarious!) stories. A night of music and laughs, the 3 songwriters, all originally from Canada's prairie provinces, met in Toronto in the music and theatre scenes. They decided to combine their talents into a show bringing together their quirky song, off-the-wall senses of humour and stage banter. '3 guys from the prairies' sold out in its last run; they will be taking their show to soft seat theatres this Fall. |

Victoria Ballet Company presents 'The Nutcracker' with Russian ballet star Anton Korsakov and rising Canadian ballet star Lisa Mironova. This ballet is staged according to the classical style of the Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre of St. Petersburg, Russia. It will take the audience through Mary's Christmas party and her magical journey into a world of imagination. Ballet students will also participate in the performance. This production of the Nutcracker has received great reviews as one of the best in Canada. |

In this play, performed entirely in English, the questions of love and death in Christ's passion are re-enacted in a small Greek village under Turkish rule in Asia Minor. The play features an original score of music, recorded by internationally renowned guitarist, Pavlo. This is a charity production, with net proceeds supporting three local charities: The AHEPA Toronto Scholarship Fund, the Hellenic Heritage Foundation, and the Geneva Centre for Autism.
