Join us for pre-theatre dinner or extend your evening with post-show dessert as part of
our Special Events series.
Debra DiGiovanni, Sabrina Jalees and Nikki Glaser come together with host Ali Wong for an
evening of cutting-edge laughs and satire, crashing right through the glass ceiling of the
formerly male-dominated genre with the "all chick" comedy revue, Smash The Roof!
Debra DiGiovanni was voted Canada's Best Female Comedian at the 2009 Canadian Comedy
Awards. Debra regularly appears on Muchmusic's Video on Trial and can also be heard on CBC
Radio One's program Bleep hosted by Shelagh Rogers. She has also recently appeared on
Slice Television's Plastic Makes Perfect.
Sabrina Jalees was the youngest comic to tour for Yuk Yuk's, the youngest comic to record
a Comedy Now special, the youngest stand up to perform at the prestigious Just For Laugh's
Festival. She is perhaps most recognized from her blunt and unique sensibility on Much
Music's Video On Trial and this year she was also given the amazing opportunity of both
writing for and hosting YTV's exciting new reality series In Real Life.
Nikki Glaser started performing stand-up comedy when she was only 18 while attending
college at the University of Kansas. After reaching the semi-finals of the fourth season
of Last Comic Standing, she was invited to perform at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival
in Montreal, Canada. In 2009, Nikki made her first late night appearance as a guest on The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Ali Wong is a budding stand-up comedian and writer from San Francisco. She moved to New

Comedian of 2009" and the San Francisco Bay Guardian awarded her "Best of the
Bay". Since then, she has gained a large cult following in New York and appeared on
MTV's "Hatin' on '09." |

EMMA-LEE
RBC Theatre, Living Arts Centre
Join us for an intimate evening as part of our Relaxed Series, complete with dessert and
beverage service in a cabaret style setting on the main level.
Celebrate Valentine's Day early and join us for a romantic evening of swingin' jazz, 50s
pop, and bossa nova all with the vocals of emerging singer songwriter Emma-Lee. Winner of
a 2010 Independent Music Award in the Best Love Song category for "Until We Meet
Again" Emma will share her songs from the heart.
Saucy and sweet, pensive and pure, Emma-Lee's debut album, Never Just A Dream, offers a
candid peek inside the romantic heart. The emerging Toronto-based jazz performer sings a
collection of songs inspired by the sort of heartache that is universal to anyone who has
lived a life worth living. Her live show is known for an intimate, off the cuff charm that
creates a special bond with the audience.
Her weakness for a great pop melody turns out to be one of her greatest strengths; on her
debut album spectres of AM oldies radio mingle effortlessly with childhood influences like
Joni Mitchell and jazz great Ella Fitzgerald, creating a hauntingly beautiful musical
landscape at once complex and yet familiar.
While preparing and creating the album Emma-Lee was stricken not once but twice by any
singer's worst nightmare; the need for throat surgery. In spite of these obstacles,
Emma-Lee continued to follow her dreams and it's that kind of dedication and unwavering
faith that sets her apart. Her skill, patience and incredible business savvy mark her as a
rare artist of foresight and uncompromising vision. |

TOWER OF POWER
Hammerson Hall, Living Arts Centre
Join us for pre-theatre dinner or extend your evening with post-show dessert as part of
our Special Events series.
For over 40 years, Tower of Power has been creating its own kind of soul music melding
jazz, funk, rock and soul into an exhilarating, high energy show you won't soon forget.
Led by super saxophonist Emilio Castrillo, their unique urban soul music combined with
outstanding lead vocalist Larry Braggs makes this one of the most dynamic groups of
musicians to ever hit the stage! Tower of Power's journey began in July 1968 when Emilio
Castillo met Stephen "Doc" Kupka in Oakland, California. When Doc auditioned
during a band rehearsal at Emilio's house, Emilio's father called him into the kitchen and
offered the following advice: "Hire that guy, he's got something." Doc and his
signature baritone sax sound were now in the band, and on August 13, 1968, Tower of Power,
as we know them today, began playing gigs, and soon became very well known in the area.
Tower celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2008 at a very special reunion show at the
Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco. With Mic Gillete rejoining the band in August of
2009, there are now 5 original members in the current lineup. Their dedication to the
music, their creative writing, and their original vision still guides Tower of Power. |
